Bronx Burger Co. Test Kitchen, Bath

A new burger place is coming to Bath in 2019... Bronx Burger Co 🍔

We had the (amazing) opportunity to test out their new burgers at one of their test kitchens.

Arabian Night & Dinner at Comptoir Libanais, Bath

Comptoir Libanais, as the name would suggest, is a Lebanese restaurant nestled in Southgate serving a range of yummy dishes (all the hummus - yum) 😍

We were recently invited to an Arabian Night filled with great food, belly dancing and live music.

High Tea at The Peninsula Hotel in Paris, France

Situated just a few steps from the Arc De Triomphe and surrounded by beautiful Hausmann style buildings, the Peninsula in Paris is probably one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stepped into.

We headed there for their High Tea, stopping to take some pictures along the way of course.

Drinks & Nibbles at Champagne + Fromage in Comptoir + Cuisine, Bath

You may have recently noticed that Bath has a new French concept store and bistro on George Street. When you go into the shop you will see a room filled with fun French products and cosy coffee tables and chairs. If you go a little bit further, you'll see a cool bar with saucisson and old school pans hanging from the ceilings.

Even a little further, you'll find a warm and welcoming bistro. The fun part, however, is on your right. Hidden behind a wall, there is a flight of stairs which will take you to Comptoir + Cusine's very own speakeasy, Champagne + Fromage 🥂

You will be greeted by Victoria at her champagne bar and will be given a menu full of different French champagnes and some sharing boards for if you get hungry.

Shop Local: Elements for Life

You may have heard of Elements for Life, a local company that makes delicious, nutritious raw chocolate 🍫

They only use high-quality ingredients, which are pesticide-free. Many of them are also organic! They also source from lots of small-scale farmers co-operatives to ensure that their ingredients are fairly traded which is so important.

Lunch at Ponte Vecchio, Bath

If you take a little walk down by the Avon you might spot Ponte Vecchio, a little gem serving delicious Italian food.

The restaurant is named after the famous Ponte Vecchio in Florence, Italy which houses the cutest little jewellery shops on either side of it.

We were recently invited down to try out some of their food (I'm not sure how we had never been there before). It's close to Pulteney Bridge in Bath which has often been referred to as the Ponte Vecchio of England so you see where they've taken inspiration for the name from ✨

Thanksgiving Dinner at Bath Brew House, Bath

Last week we were kindly invited to Bath Brew House for a Thanksgiving Beer & Food matching night. The evening consisted of hearty, home-cooked food with home brewed ales to match.

Interestingly, although Thanksgiving is known to be an American holiday, it actually started in England! I know, I was surprised too. It dates back to the Protestant Reformation to give thanks for the harvest. Nowadays, it's celebrated mostly by North Americans, to celebrate all that they are thankful for and to gather round the table to eat some yummy food.

And that's exactly what we did. We were joined by around twelve other guests including some Americans who had dressed up with turkey hats to get into the Thanksgiving spirit.

Bath's Newest Vegan Cafe: Roots & Shoots

Bath has a new 100% plant-based, eco-conscious cafe called Roots & Shoots

Last Thursday we were incited to their opening party and we then went back earlier this week to try one of their lunch options.

Dinner at Absurd Bird, Bath

If you're a massive fried chicken fan then you've probably heard of Absurd Bird, a chicken shack with a Deep Southern feel

The Best Hot Chocolate in Paris at Angelina

Angelina is one of the most famous cafés in Paris.

Famous for what exactly? Beautiful interiors incorporating Parisian elegance and charm and (let's be honest, the main reason that we went) their hot chocolate 🍫☕️

Their famous "African" hot chocolate is made from three different kinds of cocoa from Niger, Ghana and the Ivory Coast...

Winter Wonderland at The Bird Hotel, Bath

The Winter Wonderland at The Bird Hotel (map below) is open today!

They've got a bunch of different festive drinks and seasonal food in a super cute, whimsical setting.

The whole venue has cosy vibes everywhere - woodland branches, fairy lights, tables with candles and blankets to keep you cosy (how has it dropped to 0 degrees today?!)

Cake & Coffee at the West Cornwall Pasty Co, Bath

You might know the West Cornwall Pasty Co. as a place that does great pastys (it does, and caters for gluten-free and dairy-free too).

This time however, we were invited down to try their new cake range 🍰

Wine & Tapas at Beckford Bottle Shop, Bath

Beckford Bottle shop is a new, modern wine shop & tasting room in Bath with old-fashioned values.

They have over 250 different wines and all of their dishes use British produce, something that they pride themselves on, using lots of locally-sourced ingredients.

Al Fresco Lunch at Cafe Lucca, Bath

You may have walked past it on your way up to Alfred Street and The Circus before, but there's a light, airy Italian-inspired cafe within the concept store The Loft named Cafe Lucca.

Having just finished our final year university exams, we were kindly invited by the Cafe Lucca team to celebrate.

Where to Eat Thai Food in Bath, England | BATH FOOD GUIDE

Even though Bath is a small place, we are super lucky (and spoilt) to have so many different amazing, authentic Thai restaurants to try. Here is a list of them, which ones are your favourites? 🌶

The Best Pizza in The World at Pizzeria Da Michele in Naples, Italy

If you're an avid pizza lover or you've watched the film Eat, Pray, Love then you've probably heard about Pizzeria Da Michele, known for having "the best pizza in the world".

Naples is famous for being the birthplace of pizza. Although we're not sure if that's true or not, the pizza we had while we were visiting the beautiful but chaotic city was the best we've ever had - and we've had a lot of pizza 🍕

Piper-Heidsieck Champagne Dinner at The Mint Room, Bath

The Mint Room, the award-winning Indian restaurant on Lower Bristol Road, recently invited us to a Piper-Heidseick champagne tasting dinner for a special five-course tasting menu with champagne pairings - dreamy right?

Lunch at Nourish Plantbased Eating, Bath

Last year the popular restaurant The Beaufort on London Road rebranded itself by serving a 100% plant-based cuisine  🌱

The food at Nourish is international with influences from all over the World and they locally source all seasonal vegetables, striving to support local suppliers and businesses.

Cascara's Reopening Party, Bath

The amazing Cascara has reopened today!

The cafe has been bought by a wonderful new owner, Sus, and is now a plant-based cafe. Here are a couple of snaps from the opening party last week.

The Best Places for Gelato in Florence, Italy

Florence, one of Italy's most beautiful and most-visited cities, is full of little ice cream shops. After living there for half a year, here are some of my favourites🍦.

If you need any excuses to try gelato, it traditionally has less cream in it than your standard ice cream and has less air in it too - meaning more goodness for you 😉.

Next time you're there, try to tick off all four in this little travel guide off of your list.

The Cakery's First Birthday, Bath

A couple of days ago the lovely, cosy café The Cakery in Widcombe invited us to celebrate their First Birthday with them.

Ella is a local baker from Bath and launched the cute cafe, you guessed it, one year ago. She uses locally sourced ingredients and even uses recyclable takeaway boxes and cutlery - every little helps 🌎.

Sam's Kitchen Supper Club at Always Sunday House, Bath

Sam's Kitchen cook food that they love, taking inspiration from cuisines all over the world. They always cook seasonally and buy locally to ensure freshness and the highest quality of ingredients. You may remember that they used to have a Deli in Bath, but it sadly closed down a couple of years ago due to extortionate rent prices. They're now focused on events and tasting rooms.

Always Sunday House is a Georgian home in Bath which showcases creative collaborators all working together to create unique and beautiful events.

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to one of Sam's Kitchen supper clubs which was hosted at the beautiful Always Sunday House. The theme was Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavours to showcase Sam's Kitchen's new 3-course dinner menu - we were even lucky enough to be cooked for by Sam himself.

Shop Local: Hanora Health, Bath

Hanora Health was recently launched to address the issues facing society today - processed foods. They have launched not one, but two different products: Kombucha and Raw Chocolate Orange bites.  They kindly sent us a couple of things to try out and today we're sharing them with all of you 🤗.

So, what is Kombucha? You may have heard of it before, particularly if you are interested in gut-healthy foods. It's essentially a fermented tea beverage made with a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast. It sounds scary but it's really not.

After a week or longer, the drink becomes naturally carbonated and slightly sweet-tart. Most excitingly, it becomes full of healthy goodness (B vitamins, antioxidants and bacteria/yeast which are great for your gut.)

Melbourne-Style Brunch at The Hardware Société in Paris, France

Located in Montmartre, The Hardware Société is quickly becoming one of Paris' favourite brunch spots. The restaurant originally opened in Melbourne, and made it's way to Paris a few years ago incorporating both Australian and French breakfast favourites into their menu.

Dinner at The Acorn Restaurant, Bath

Looking for a cosy, modern, award-winning bistro specialising in vegan and vegetarian food? Look no further than The Acorn Restaurant.

The Acorn Restaurant's ethos is to work from nature, bringing its flavours and textures to life. Quite simply put: working with plants. They put fruits, vegetables and legumes in the spotlight, creating gorgeous modern dishes using delicious, high quality ingredients.

Lunch at Dan Moon at The Gainsborough Restaurant, Bath

Dan Moon at the Gainsborough Restaurant has been awarded an impressive three AA Rosettes and features in the prestigious Tatler Restaurant Guide. The restaurant, located in The Gainsborough Bath Spa Hotel, has a special two-for-one lunch menu on weekdays - an offer we couldn't resist.

Pho Tuesdays at Noya's Kitchen, Bath

Noya's Kitchen, one of Bath's best restaurants specialising in Vietnamese food, has recently launched Pho Tuesdays dedicated to - you guessed it - pho. A Vietnamese soup made with broth, rice noodles herbs and a protein source (beef, chicken or tofu), pho is a street food that has recently become very popular in the UK.

Lunch at The House of Small Wonder in Berlin, Germany

"Why the name House of Small Wonder? Because everyday life is not about the big wonders, its about the small wonders that make things just a little more pleasant."

House of Small Wonder originally opened in 2010 in Brooklyn, New York and then made its way to Berlin at the end of 2014, bringing with it its greenhouse atmosphere, filled with plenty of (beautiful) greenery.

Burgers at MeatBusters Burger Bar, Bath

Located on Lower Bristol Road in a super cosy joint, MeatBusters Burger Bar (formerly known as Burgers and Barrells) makes great burgers cooked fresh to order, made using locally sourced ingredients.

Where to Have Breakfast and Brunch in Bath, England | BATH FOOD GUIDE

Our for Sunday brunch? Want a good place for breakfast? Here are some of the best places the city has to offer 🌻.

Cafe au Lait

A family-run, independent coffee house serving a range of breakfasts (including vegan & gluten-free pancakes). The halloumi fries are incredible. Click here for our review.

12-14 Dorchester Street
£-££

Plant-Based Lunch at Beyond the Kale, Bath

Located in Green Park Station, Beyond the Kale is hands-down one of my favourite places in Bath. They specialise in juices and smoothies but have so many different breakfast, lunch and dessert options too. Everything is plant based and delicious.

6 Secret Bars & 'Speakeasies' in Paris, France

Paris is full of Prohibition-style speakeasy bars which generally serve expensive, but cool cocktails.

For those of you that don't know, the Prohibition was when the USA banned all alcohol between 1920 and 1933. Naturally, 'speakeasies' (secret bars) popped up all around the country and although the Prohibition is long gone and alcohol was never banned in France, Parisians continue to enjoy the concept of the secret bar.

Here are 6 of Paris' secret bars, from secret hotels to Indian train themed establishments, including tips on how to get inside them.

Dinner at The Marlborough Tavern, Bath

The Marlborough Tavern, one of Bath's post popular pubs, had a menu makeover a couple of months ago, created by their new Head Chef. Marrying classic pub favourites with oriental-inspired dishes, we were super excited to check it out.

Dinner at Bar + Block Steakhouse, Bath

Hidden away next to the Premier Inn by Kingsmead Square, a new steakhouse has popped up: Bar + Block.

Simply KL's Launch at The New Inn, Bath

The New Inn is a recently refurbished pub on Monmouth Place that has a great selection of cask ales and craft beers. More recently, they have launched "Simply KL", a new menu featuring an array of Malaysian Hawker Centre (street food) style dishes.

We were lucky enough to get invited along to their soft launch to try out some their menu. Having lived in Singapore for eight years, a country with strong Malay influence, I was curious to see what The New Inn's version of Malay food tasted like.

Dinner at Sushi Atelier, London

Located in the heart of Fitzrovia, Sushi Atelier serves modern sushi created by their skilled sushi chefs. Their menu is far from standard, showcasing its creativity with dishes such as their everchanging chef's selection of nigiri and sashimi.

Where to Eat Pizza in Bath, England | BATH FOOD GUIDE

Outside of Italy, Bath is pretty lucky to have such good pizzerias. Here are some of the best ones the city has to offer. 🍕

Franco Manca

Authentic Neapolitan sourdough pizzas (also garlic bread, salads, burrata, dips for pizza crusts, wine, beer, Aperol spritz, tiramisu). Gluten-free bases & vegan cheese available. Our personal favourite - cheap & cheerful!

12 Brunel Square
£

Franco Manca Bath's Opening Party

When Franco Manca opened earlier this year, it seemed that everyone in Bath was excited about it. The reason? Authentic neapolitan, sourdough pizzas for a very reasonable price as well as wine, beer, burrata... you get the gist.

We were lucky enough to get invited to their Opening Party a few weeks later. Here's what we got up to.

First up: starters and lots of aperol spritz

The burrata with sourdough bread and sundried tomatoes was incredible - so creamy. If you're not sure what burrata is, it's basically like a creamier (more heavenly) version of mozzarella.

The cured meats were perfectly fresh.

The aperol spritz' were amazing. It's a traditional Italian aperitif made from aperol liquer, soda water and proseco. Dream.

Lunch at All'Antico Vinaio in Florence, Italy

If you have ever been to Florence or are planning a trip to go there you have no doubt heard about All'Antico Vinaio. Originally a rosticceria (where they sell whole roasted chickens), the place has turned into one of the most famous sandwich shops in the world.

They originally didn't have enough space, so they bought the wine bar across the road which is where their name comes from (the old wine bar). It definitely turned into a success and you can now be sure to always find yourself at the back of a long queue which you can find in Via dei Neri (close to the Piazzale Signoria and the Galleria degli Uffizi), but don't worry - it's worth it!

Fish & Chips at The Scallop Shell, Bath

If you haven't heard of the Scallop Shell yet, I'm not quite sure where you've been. It's arguably (and in our opinion) the best place for seafood in Bath. Its fish and chips are reason enough for a visit, not to mention their nautical-themed interiors.

Spanish Tapas at Tapas Revolution, Bath

Located in the heart of Southgate, Tapas Revolution is one of Bath's many tapas joints.

Vietnamese Lunch at Noya's Kitchen, Bath

Noya's Kitchen opened in Bath back last year after Noya had held extremely successful pop-up supper clubs in Bear Flat for years. Due to her success, a beautiful new restaurant was opened on St James Parade (near Bath College) with a menu that changes every week always including both a meat and vegetarian (which is usually vegan too) option.

We were lucky enough to be invited to the preview evening of her new restaurant where Noya explained how she had fled from Vietnam in the 1970s, seeking refuge in the UK and how the flavours in all of her cooking reflected her Vietnamese roots. We also got to sample some of her food that evening, and were invited back a few weeks later to try a full menu.

Aperitivo at Tamerò Pasta Bar in Florence, Italy

Aperitivo in Italy is one of the best ideas ever. Traditionally it would be a pre-dinner drink with maybe some nuts or chips but luckily in Italy they have something called apericena (cena is dinner in Italian) which is also called aperitivo: basically a very cheap way of having dinner and a drink.

In Florence, there's normally a set price which is around 10 euros and you can choose any drink with an unlimited buffet. Having previously lived in Italy for half a year,  I have been to a fair few places for aperitivo and I have to say that Tamerò is one of my favourites because it has simple, but good food for under 10 euros.

Where to Eat Vegetarian and Vegan in Bath, England | BATH FOOD GUIDE

As more and more people are becoming vegetarian, vegan or just interested in eating less meat, the number of places providing this kind of food in Bath is growing. Better for the environment, the animals and arguably for your health, it's not hard to see why.

Here's a little list of the restaurants and cafés in Bath that cater 100% to a vegetarian and vegan lifestyle.

Vegan Thai Food at The Giggling Squid, Bath

When the Giggling Squid, a Thai restaurant, opened in Bath earlier this year we were invited to try out their menu. It's on Saw Close, where the Mexican restaurant Chimichanga used to be - you may have seen the beautiful orchids through the windows as you walk past.

I went with one of my friends who is vegan, so we decided to test out their plant-based menu. For a non-vegan restaurant, they had many different options to choose from!

Drinks & Nibbles at Le Vignoble, Bath

Nestled away in Milsom Place, Le Vignoble, a new wine bar with wine despensers (omg) opened earlier this year. Le Vignoble, 'the vinyard' in French, focuses on a balance between quality and price, therefore promoting small producers and unusual wines. As wine lovers, we were super happy to get invited to go down to Le Vignoble to see what it was all about.

Brunch at The Ivy Bath Brasserie, Bath

We recently were invited to the new Ivy Bath Brasserie to try out their breakfast and brunch menu - exciting!
