Pho Tuesdays at Noya's Kitchen, Bath

Noya's Kitchen, one of Bath's best restaurants specialising in Vietnamese food, has recently launched Pho Tuesdays dedicated to - you guessed it - pho. A Vietnamese soup made with broth, rice noodles herbs and a protein source (beef, chicken or tofu), pho is a street food that has recently become very popular in the UK.

What we ordered
  • Pork spring rolls
  • Tofu and water chestnut crispy dumplings
  • Beef pho
  • Tofu pho
  • Lemon cheesecake with passion fruit coulis

Our thoughts

We started with the pork spring rolls and the tofu and water chestnut crispy dumplings. The spring rolls had strong flavours of mint and coriander and the tofu dumplings were very flavourful, particularly paired with the chutney sauce. The tofu was great as it wasn't stiff or soggy like it sometimes can be. The chilli sauce was great but beware because it's very hot 🚨🌶.

Then we moved onto the pho and decided to go for both the beef and the tofu (vegan).

The beef pho had a great herb-infused, tasty broth. So good that we could have eaten just the broth itself! The tofu pho had a sweeter taste thanks to the soya sauce and the tofu was well-cooked and, once again, not chewy.

If you do get pho, make sure to add a squeeze of lime juice onto it as it gives the dish a great flavour. Both pho were good but our favourite was definitely the tofu one.

To finish, we decided to share the lemon cheesecake which was a great way to end the whole dinner. It was on the sweet side but the sweetness didn't overpower the dish and served as a good way to balance the tart lemon flavour. The crushed biscuit base mixed with nuts was absolutely incredible and probably one of the best cheesecake bases we have ever tried.

If you haven't been to Noya's Kitchen yet, you definitely have to make your way over there for the yummiest Vietnamese food, not to mention the absolutely lovely Noya who runs the place and is one of the most delightful human beings.
