Drinks & Nibbles at Champagne + Fromage in Comptoir + Cuisine, Bath

You may have recently noticed that Bath has a new French concept store and bistro on George Street. When you go into the shop you will see a room filled with fun French products and cosy coffee tables and chairs. If you go a little bit further, you'll see a cool bar with saucisson and old school pans hanging from the ceilings.

Even a little further, you'll find a warm and welcoming bistro. The fun part, however, is on your right. Hidden behind a wall, there is a flight of stairs which will take you to Comptoir + Cusine's very own speakeasy, Champagne + Fromage 🥂

You will be greeted by Victoria at her champagne bar and will be given a menu full of different French champagnes and some sharing boards for if you get hungry.

What we ordered
  • Charcuterie board (5 French meats)
  • Tapenade board
  • Earl Grey Fizz cocktail
  • Kir Royal
  • Grant Marnier et champagne
  • Cointreau gin champagne

Our thoughts

Champagne + Fromage uses Grower Champagne; different varieties of champagne by independent producers who are passionate about making artisanal wine by using traditional methods.

Victoria, the champagne bartender, is very creative with her champagne cocktails. We loved the ones that she made for us, especially the Earl Grey Fizz - this was amazing! It was a concoction of vodka, champagne, gomme and earl grey.

The charcuterie meats were all of really high quality and we loved them all. We had a selection of flavoured saucisson, pancetta and bellota. They also have great cheese boards which work well with their champagnes!

The bread that came with the tapenade was incredible. The tapenades that we had were artichoke (amazing), goji berry (interesting) and figs & black olives (very sweet).

The place itself is very cosy with lots of French products everywhere. We loved it so much!

The perfect place to relax after a long day.

Be sure to check out this amazing new addition to Bath's foodie scene for some yummy French food and champagne. Thank you to the team at Comptoir + Cuisine for taking care of us!
