Pizza at The Oven Pizzeria, Bath

The Oven is an independent, award-winning artisan pizzeria, specialising in authentic Neapolitan-style pizza (our favourite kind).

If you haven't heard of The Oven by now and you're a pizza lover, you're definitely missing out, Just off of Kingsmead Square next to Vino Vino (map below), is one of Bath's best pizza restaurants 🍕.

What we ordered
  • Italian green olives
  • Rosemary and garlic oil focaccia
  • White pizza (fior di latte mozzarella base instead of tomato sauce) with cotto ham, nduja, creamed walnuts, fig jam & basil 🧀🍖🌿🍕
  • Focaccia base pizza with red onion, chopped torpedino tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, buffalo mozzarella & rocket 🍅🥑🥒🍕
  • Sivilian cannolo
  • Homemade tiramisù

Our thoughts

The olives were nice, and the rosemary and garlic oil focaccia was delicious and a great alternative to the standard garlic bread.

The pizza with the ham and nduja (a spicy salami from Italy) was incredible. It's not difficult to see why it won the pizza chef of the year award. The combination of flavours was fantastic. There was a mix of spicy nduja which was offset by the softness of the fior di latte base and the fig jam added a sweet element to it. The walnuts were delicious and did a lot for the texture of the pizza.

The vegetarian option on a focaccia base was also delicious. It was a much "healthier", lighter option for those who wanted to get a couple of fruits & veggies onto their pizza 🌿. It was really fresh and delicious. Don't bash it until you try it.

Although by this point we were getting to the state of not being able to eat anymore, we had a Sicilian cannolo and a slice of their tiramisù to top it off.

A cannolo is basically a deep-fried tube of pastry that is filled with sweetened ricotta and sometimes has chocolate pieces or candied fruit in it. This one was delicious as well as authentic. The tiramisù was light and creamy with a strong coffee taste, which it should do.

The staff were so friendly and we loved the atmosphere inside, especially as you can watch your pizzas being made inside the wood-fired oven.
