Lunch at The Brasserie at Lucknam Park, The Cotswolds

Lucknam Park is a 5-star luxury hotel and spa with both tennis courts and horse riding facilities which is only a 25-minute drive from Bath. The hotel offers two contrasting places to dine. The first, a Michelin starred restaurant named Restaurant Hywel Jones. The second, a more casual Brasserie perfect for light lunches and al fresco dining.

Last week we had the fantastic opportunity to try out Lucknam Park's Brasserie. Luckily for us, it was 25 degrees so we picked a nice spot outside to enjoy our meal 🌻.

Meet The Grower Colin Champagne Tasting at Comptoir + Cuisine, Bath

If you have been following us for a while, you've probably seen our reviews of Comptoir + Cuisine before. Quirky and cosy, the bistro and champagne speakeasy are wonderful additions to the Bath foodie scene. If you haven't had a chance to see them, have a look here for the bistro, and here for the champagne speakeasy. 

On this occasion, we were invited to a champagne Colin tasting dinner 🥂. The Colin brothers specialise in Chardonnay-dominated champagnes, most of their vineyards being on the Côte des Blancs in France. 

They have been growers for several generations, starting all the way back in 1829. We had a special member of the Colin family, Delphine, who explained all of the champagnes to us.

Dinner at The Bear and Swan, Chew Magna

The Bear and Swan in Chew Magna is a lovely 18th-century country village pub only half an hour away from both Bath and Bristol. It's a great stop-off point for those who are going to Bristol Airport and would like a nice bite to eat before being subjected to the questionable airport food in the middle of a busy terminal (haha)!

Dinner at Grey's Brasserie & The Green Room at Whatley Manor in The Cotswolds

Whatley Manor is a luxury countryside getaway (aka hotel and spa) located in the heart of the Cotswolds. The best thing about it? It's only a 35-minute car journey from Bath (or 2 hours from London) - ideal for romantic evenings and relaxing weekends. Last week, we had the incredible opportunity to try out the food that they have on offer.

Whatley Manor has three different restaurants: 'The Dining Room', a Michelin starred one with Niall Keating as the executive chef, 'The Green Room', a gastronomy bar where you can see the chefs creating small plates and 'Grey's Brasserie', a more casual version of the Dining Room with a sophisticated vibe.

We first started with a wander around their stunning gardens, before heading to their lounge where we enjoyed a couple of drinks and nibbles before getting started.

Breakfast at Good Day Cafe, Bath

Good Day Cafe is run by Steph, a local West Country lady, who always knew that she wanted to run her own cafe. You'll instantly recognise it when you walk past by its pink walls, neon lights and fresh pastries and cakes sitting out on the counter, ready for you to devour. You may also spot a couple of pooches keeping their owners' company while they sip their hot drinks (it's super dog-friendly, perfect for all of our four-legged friends) 🐕.

Bristol Food Connections Festival: Clifton Food Passport

To celebrate Bristol Food Connections (a fabulous food festival from 12-23 June 2019), three food passports focusing on different areas of the city have been created. They have the 'Independent District', focusing on Gloucester Road, Bedminster and Clifton Village.

Each passport guides you from place to place, and you can enjoy a complimentary taster or small plate at each stop. They're £12 each, and there are are at least 12 stops on each passport - so it's amazing value!

This week, we had the exciting opportunity to try out the Clifton Village passport... although there are some stops which have been kept a secret, so you will have to buy one to find out 😉.

Although a lot of these venues will show meat options, they all have vegetarian and vegan options too so they cater for everyone.
