Coffee Making Class at Good Day Cafe, a Pixie App Experience

I'm sure that all of you have heard about Good Day Cafe by now. If not, read about it here - they have incredible banana bread and the cutest dog-friendly interiors ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ•.

A couple of weeks after we first visited, Good Day Cafe hosted an evening learning all about coffee and how to best brew it at home for all of us that loved our coffee but didn't love spending £3 on it every day.

The wonderful hosts Steph (Good Day's owner) and Sonny (their head barista) talked us through the whole process of how a coffee bean ๐ŸŒฑ turns into a cup of coffee ☕️, discussing coffee growing, pulping, drying, grading, roasting, grinding and brewing!

The event was in collaboration with Pixie, as one of their experiences. Pixie is an app which allows people to discover new independents in their area, pay via the app & gain points which can be used towards future purchases when doing so.

I've been using it for years and have had soooo many free coffees/smoothies/meals because of it. Plus, it's always nice to support independent businesses in your home town.

The event was a perfect balance of learning, tasting and getting involved in coffee making. We had fun trying different coffees from across the world and talking about the flavour notes of each. Our lovely hosts were so friendly and interested to know how we made our own coffee, so that they could provide us with useful guidance for our day-to-day coffee-drinking. They talked us through different types of coffee and taught us how to use different equipment including the V60, aeropress, cafetiรจre and Chemex.

We had some of Good Day Cafe's cakes, and the chocolate brownie was definitely our favourite.

We also tried to learn how to do some coffee art. Some (not us) were more successful than others as you can see ๐Ÿ˜….

From coffee grinding advice, to the ideal ratio of coffee to water that works best for different brewing methods, milk steaming tips, infusion vs percolation brews and a whole host of other coffee-related knowledge, Good Day Cafe provided us with so much information in a fun way (tasting coffee & cake always helps right).

We came away from the evening with a goodie bag, including a bag of coffee beans so that we could implement our new-found knowledge to make our morning coffee fix, as well as a whole wealth of knowledge about our favourite beverage, all the while slightly buzzing from all the caffeine.

To book your next Pixie App experience, download the app from the App Store & start exploring! ๐Ÿงš๐Ÿผ‍♀️
