Lunch at The New Inn, Bath

The New Inn has been around in Bath for a long time, however they recently changed their kitchen & menu - so it was the perfect time to pay them a visit.

They have a large selection of beers, craft ales and a great, hearty pub food menu focusing on burgers, salads and bar snacks.

As it was such a beautiful day we went up to their roof terrace and ordered some bites to start. We never even realised that they had such a nice roof terrace, or that they even had one in the first place.

We ordered a couple of Birre Moretti to quench our thirst and tucked into the Spring Quesadilla. [£5] 🌮🍅

Filled with cheddar, mozzarella, onion and chives with a side of tomato salsa, the quesadilla was light, flavoursome and well-presented. It was great for sharing as it was a good sized dish.

Moving onto mains...

The halloumi salad came with kalamata olives, pickled cucumber, rocket and roasted cherry tomatoes with a honey and lemon dressing. [£8.50] 🥗🧀 🍯🍋

This was a tasty salad which felt "meaty" (due to the great amount of halloumi). The halloumi was fresh and yummy, however the flavours of the dressing unfortunately didn't come through that much, and it was perhaps oilier than we would have liked.

The jerk chicken burger came with spring onion and guacamole, in a toasted brioche bun served with slaw and chips. [£10.50] 🍔🍟🥑

The chicken was nicely cooked and very moist. The brioche bun was perfectly toasted and the slaw & chips were both fresh and delicious. The chicken had some lightly spicy flavours, however we wouldn't class it as a traditional jerk chicken. It was definitely a good burger, but it could have been spicier & stickier, although it's a good option for those of you who can't handle your spice! It was served with a good serving of guacamole and salad.

We skipped dessert and sat on their rooftop, sipping our beers & enjoying the lovely quiet setting in the sun. The New Inn's new kitchen is a lovely addition to an already beautiful building. We would definitely recommend it for a casual lunch or an evening with friends. The food is well-priced and can be enjoyed without getting a fat cheque at the end of your meal (which unfortunately is becoming ever-increasingly the case with establishments in Bath).

🌟 Their interiors are fairly small, cosy and rustic. The atmosphere is relaxed and chilled. How beautiful is that wall below? Dogs are welcome!

🌿 There are vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options.

🤵🏻 Service is very quick, polite and friendly. They suggested the quesadilla and were quick to ask if we needed any sauces etc. - very attentive!
