Where to Eat in Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago & Almancil | ALGARVE FOOD GUIDE

Fish, seafood, piri piri chicken and pastel de nata all might come to mind when you think of food on the Algarve in Portugal. For the last two weeks, I've been on holiday in Vale do Lobo. Other than soaking up the sun, I've also been indulging in some of the *best* fish I've ever had! 🐟

Here are a couple of the places that I would recommend if you're going to the Vale do Lobo area (in no particular order).

Maria's

This beachside restaurant and rooftop bar is super vibey for both lunch and dinner. On Sunday's they have parties where you'll see an ocean of magnum rosé bottles and some questionable (very English) dance moves 🤪.

Our favourites include the seabass avocado ceviche starter, the piri piri chicken, the smoked salmon avocado tower, the fresh seared tuna and the gluten-free chocolate torte (delicious)!

Parrilla Natural

An upscale steakhouse serving a delicious range of foods. Definitely book this one if you want a fancier, romantic dinner venue and ask to sit outside by the lit-up tree.

Our favourites include the seabass fillet (char-grilled and salted to perfection), the beef burger and the chocolate fondue dessert which comes with a large range of fruits to dip into the warm chocolate 🍓🍫.

Eduardo's Paradise

A beach restaurant further along the coast which serves fantastic fresh seafood. We ordered the catch of the day (seabass) to share and it was incredible. Like Parilla Natural, it was grilled and salted to perfection. Parilla Natural and Eduardo's Paradise are my top picks for seabass fillets in the Algarve.

Order a fish to share, a couple of drinks (I'd recommend aperol spritz 🍊) and watch the sunset over the sea. Super romantic!

Pequeno Mundo

This is THE romantic restaurant to go to in the Algarve. With impeccable food, service and a gorgeous garden lined with bougainvillea flowers, it's the perfect place to enjoy an evening meal with your loved one(s)! When we went the cover included a chicken liver pâté which was fantastic. They also brought out an amuse-bouche from the chef which was sliced cured tuna.

Our favourites include the tuna carpaccio starter and the chocolate fondant dessert.

Pizzeria Casavostra

With modern, glass interiors and a lovely outdoor seating area, Pizzeria Casavostra is ideal for the days and nights when you don't want to eat the classic seafood offering in the rest of the Algarve. They have fabulous pizzas, pastas and desserts. Gluten-free pasta and pizza is available. It's full of locals and we loved it so much that we came here three times!

Our favourites include the truffle pizza, the chocolate mousse dessert and the strawberries with limoncello.

2Passos

This is a fantastic place for sunset views, but sadly we could only get a lunch booking. Because we had eaten so much fish at this point, we ordered other things on the menu, but when seeing our neighbours' catch of the day served Algarve-style (grilled with lots of peppers, onions etc), we were quite jealous!

Our favourites include the prawn and mussel linguine.

Praia do Ancão 3404

Sandbanks

A nice place to have lunch just by the Vale do Lobo beach entrance.

Our favourites include the prawn linguine, vegetable curry and salmon fillet. Avoid the salmon fishcake starter as it's terrible!

The Praca, Vale do Lobo

Izzy's Beach Bar

A super vibey beach bar for either lunch or dinner. Ask to sit outside on the terrace and you'll get the most amazing view of the sunset. All dishes are large portions and were tasty, but it wasn't the absolute best food that we had. That being said, the vibes more than make up for it and it's still an enjoyable place to have a meal, particularly if you're in a group ordering lots of chilled white & rosé wine 💃🏼.

Our favourites include the chicken wing starter.

As a general note, please book all the restaurants you want to go to before you go. They tend to get *very* busy, particularly the fancier ones as well as Pizzeria Casavostra.

And most importantly, enjoy The Algarve - it's beautiful! 😁🌴
