Romantic Date-Night Restaurants & Bars in Bath | BATH FOOD GUIDE

Bath is full of fantastic romantic restaurants and bars. With low, ambient lighting and a killer drinks list to match, lots of these would be absolutely perfect for a first date. We've included both restaurants, bars in here so that you have a range of options to pick from. Have fun on your date!

Beckford Bottle Shop 🍴🍷

A modern wine bar with a menu consisting of sharing plates that changes on a regular basis to ensure the freshest, most seasonal ingredients. Order a couple of plates to share, get a few glasses of wine and chat away in a cosy and dimly lit restaurant. This is one of our all-time favourites in Bath and we would highly recommend the chocolate mousse. Click here for our full review.

The Underwood 🍴🍸

For gorgeous, high-end food with a beautiful view of the river, definitely come to The Underwood. The décor inside is gorgeous and the atmosphere very tranquil and relaxed. With modern furnishing and artwork surrounding the rooms, we love the vibes in there!

It's also great if you just want to go for a drink at the bar. It's actually on three floors, the first one being a bar/communal area which is great for events, date night or a few casual drinks whereas the other two are for dining. Click here for our full review.

The Dark Horse 🍸

This is a new favourite of ours. The menu has several local products and ingredients from English wines and South West beers to some fruits and herbs which have been "foraged from the lush and bountiful hills that surround this fine city".

As soon as you walk down the steps you're greeted by a friendly member of staff, dimly-lit cosy interiors similar to an American speakeasy and jazz soul music. It's the perfect atmosphere for date night and with an extensive cocktail list, you really are spoilt for choice. It's primarily a bar, however they do a couple of nibbles if you get peckish - olives, hummus and pitta etc. Click here for our full review.

Champagne + Fromage at Comptoir + Cuisine 🍴🍸

Comptoir + Cuisine is a French concept store and bistro, focusing on French tapas sharing plates, cheese and charcuterie boards. If you head down the stairs on your right-hand-side, you'll enter a very romantic speakeasy & champagne bar, Champagne + Fromage, with lots of plush sofas - perfect for any date. Order a few sharing boards and cocktails or champagne. Click here for a full review.

Clayton's Kitchen 🍴

As probably our absolute favourite restaurant in Bath, we couldn't not include Clayton's Kitchen on the list. It might not be as dimly-lit as the others, however Clayton's Kitchen offers incredible, high-quality and inventive food with a minimalist, unpretentious interior vibe.

We would highly recommend the fillet steak with duck fat chips, the fish of the day as well as the passion fruit crème brûlée (to be honest, every single thing we've ever had here has been amazing). If the menu seems a little pricey, check out their set lunch menu which is great value.

Sotto Sotto 🍴

Anyone knows that if you want to get a dinner reservation at the extremely popular Italian restaurant Sotto Sotto, you need to book at least a couple of weeks in advance for the weekend. If you go mid-week, you can afford to book a little later, but we would recommend booking ASAP. Once again, as many of the romantic spots in Bath, this is an underground location near the river. Sotto Sotto focuses on simple, high-quality ingredients to create beautiful Italian dishes.

Koffmann & Mr White 🍴

This is one for the French food lovers. Koffmann & Mr. White's is an English-French fusion brasserie created by famous chefs Pierre Koffmann and Marco Pierre White. With beautiful, romantic interiors, it's the perfect setting for date night. We would highly recommend the braised ox cheek and the tarte au citron. Click here for our full review.

Beneath 🍸

For those of you whose go-to date night spot was The Confessional until it closed, Beneath can fill that hole in your heart! As the name would suggest, it's just beneath The Botanist in Milsom Place and is "inspired by the rise of apothecary and the darker side of botany". Its menu is super cool but only does drinks.
