Breakfast at Sweet Little Things, Bath

Sweet Little Things tea room and bakery is probably one of the most 'instagrammable' cafes in the whole of Bath. Having already tried out their afternoon tea (review here 👈🏼 - spoiler alert: we loved it), we came back to the cute cafe this week to try out their breakfast.

With lots of different options to try, we didn't know where to start! In the end, we decided to go for a couple of favourites to see how Sweet Little Things did classic breakfast staples.

We started with buttermilk pancakes with dark chocolate, banana and maple syrup 🥞 [£7.50]

These were really filling and nice, although the pancakes were kind of heavy rather than fluffy or light. The dark chocolate worked well with the banana, and we were told that if we wanted more maple syrup we could just ask but we didn’t need any more as it was very sweet.

These were beautifully presented (just look at those edible flowers) and they actually offered both gluten-free and vegan pancake options which is great.

We also had the smoked salmon avocado toast with poached eggs, chilli and lemon 🥑 [£9]

This is a classic breakfast dish which we personally believe never disappoints. It was nice; the poached eggs were perfectly cooked and the serving of avocado and smoked salmon was definitely on the generous side which we appreciated.

The lemon wedge added a zing and the chilli a nice kick. As far as this dish goes, there's not that much you can expect from it with it being such a simple classic.

The last thing that we tried was the açai bowl with mixed berries and banana, topped with seeds, superfoods and blended with almond milk 🍓 [£5.50]

To be completely honest, we were quite disappointed with this even though it looked pretty. There wasn’t a strong açai flavour and overall it was quite bland. That being said, the toppings were nice and you got quite a lot considering the price. We really liked the fresh berries and seeds, however some were arguably for decoration only (i.e. the rose petals).

While we had our breakfast we sipped on a couple of teas - green and mint, which were served in nice tall glass mugs.

🌟 The venue is very pretty and trendy with an entire wall of flowers. Downstairs is even more impressive with an entire room of flower walls, velvet seats and a swing which is perfect for the 'gram. This is a favourite among hen parties and you can see why. Most people come here for afternoon tea but their breakfast and lunch menu is vast and covers many savoury options as well. One thing that stood out about this café is that they serve alcohol which is rather unusual and perhaps explains why it's such a popular choice for hen parties.
