Dinner at Bonghy Bo, Bath

Bonghy Bo is an Asian restaurant focusing on Japanese, Chinese and Thai cuisines. We had never seen them before but they've actually been in Bath for quite a while so we were excited to try them out when they kindly invited us.

We were greeted by a friendly member of staff and were given a table outside. For drinks, we went for a Peroni which was served with lime and a Shintao.

For starters, we decided to go for some classic staples.

Pork dumplings 🥟 [£6.50]

These were succulent and the spring onion made them very fragrant. They were fried and slightly crunchy.

Char siu ribs 🍖 [£6.95]

These were delicious! Very succulent, juicy and tender. The meat fell off the bone, they had a BBQ taste to them.

Moving onto mains...

Chicken Thai green curry 🍲 [£9.95]

This was nicely presented and served with jasmine rice. There was a good amount of flavour and the curry was creamy, however, the only let down was that the chicken was fried and it could have benefitted from more sauce.

Japanese style Udon noodles 🍜 [£10.50]

These came with chicken, prawns and a range of vegetables. They had a lovely sweet chilli taste to them and the prawns were meaty and a good size. The chicken, again, was slightly breaded/fried which we weren’t expecting. This is probably down to personal preference!

Bonghy Bo has a good range of mains, starters, salads and even some (not so Asian) sandwiches. Overall, the presentation of dishes is beautiful, however, it’s not great for veggie options.

The outside area is a great place to dine, especially with covid! The tables are nicely spaced out and as it’s in a courtyard, it feels a bit more private. Takeaway is available.

🤵🏻 Staff were lovely and friendly and the service was prompt.
