Dining Domes at Homewood Hotel & Spa, Bath

Homewood’s new Dining Domes are a great solution for up to 6 people to experience a delicious three-course lunch, Champagne afternoon tea or dinner feast together. Each dome is warm & cosy, with soft lighting, blankets, winter flowers, and Dyson heaters. They're perfect for winter!

They kindly invited us down to try out the domes before lockdown, and the menu has changed slightly since then.

We were greeted with a glass of Taittinger champagne on arrival and were led to our dining dome.

We started with the Somerset Montgomery Cheddar fondue with a herb & tomato stuffed loaf & antipasto platter with pesto 🧀

The cheddar was finished with fresh herbs and spices which added great textures and flavours to the perfection that was the fondue.
The stuffed loaf was as delicious as it looked. Baked to perfection, the loaf had a firm crust which was perfect to dip in the fondue. The small touch of herbs and tomatoes in the bread didn’t go unnoticed, it worked perfectly with the cheese and herbs within the fondue.

The antipasto platter consisted of cornichons, prosciutto, chorizo, salami, sun dried tomatoes, olives, cucumber and some watercress along with a rich creamy pesto/olive oil mix, which was delicious when double dipped in the pesto then fondue. 10/10.

Dover Sole with brown shrimp & sea vegetables 🐟

This was incredible. The fish was perfectly cooked and so fresh. Samphire added great texture & flavour and the Salad (radishes, leafy salad & sweet potato) was perfect to accompany the fish.
Everything about this dish impressed us, the freshness, the combination of textures, flavours and the size (two whole dover soles). 10/10.

Apple, rhubarb & vanilla baked Alaska with flamed Somerset brandy 🍎

This was presented in a beautiful Italian meringue, but unfortunately this was disappointing as the inside was completely frozen. Once it was given some time to melt however, the combination of apple and rhubarb flavours was really nice. This was their first time doing it, so was probably down to teething issues! If executed properly, we’re sure it will be delicious.

The staff were very welcoming & bubbly - Daisy took care of us for the whole lunch and we couldn't have been happier. The pods themselves are super cosy and vibey, and would be great for some wintery meals once lockdown lifts!
